WIC Nutrition Program


Good nutrition will help provide the best possible start in life and is a necessary ingredient for you and your child to grow up healthy and strong.

  • What is WIC?

    WIC is a supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children (WIC). The program provides free nutritious food and nutrition education in order to improve the health status of the participant.


    WIC is funded and administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Statewide, the program is operated by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and provided locally by the Texas County Health Department.

  • Who is invited to participate?

    WIC serves women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have had a baby in the last 6 months, infants under one year of age and children up to 5 years of age who are at nutritional risk and have met income guidelines

  • What are the Benefits of the WIC Program?

    Nutrition education and guidance for you and your children at no cost


    Breastfeeding education and support at no cost


     Nutritious foods to supplement your diet, such as milk, cheese, iron-fortified cereal, juice, eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads and tortillas and infant foods etc. at no cost.

  • Program Requirements

    Certification to WIC requires check of height & weight, diet assessment, finger stick for testing of hemoglobin level. This is done at no cost to you and by appointment only. 

  • Eligibility Guidelines

    Low to moderate income 185% of federal poverty level guidelines or Medicaid eligibility. There are no fees or payments for this service.

from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
